Mike is on a Mission YouTube Channel
Hello all! So glad to be back writing and creating new content! As many of you know, I have a deep heart to help Christians engage Biblically with our culture and in the world. I’m happy to announce that I’m starting a new YouTube channel to help Christians engage Biblically with our culture. The channel, called Mike is on a Mission, is a new project that I’m quite excited about. I’ve been working hard to put together a new studio and learn new video software to make the content as good as I can. In this post, allow me to quickly introduce you to the channel and some of the ‘underpinning’ that’ll guide the content I produce.
Obviously, I’ll be using the Bible as my guide with the content that I produce. It is truly the inspired Word of God and the best book of all time. American President Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying about the Bible, “I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated to us through this Book.” While you’ll have to tune into the ‘Mike is on a Mission’ episode I’ll be doing on the Bible, let me quickly tell you why it’ll be the guide for this new channel. While I’ve written a lot about this, including how the Bible is backed up through historical accuracy and accurate prophecy, I always go back first to what the Bible says about itself. Here are just two passages I often refer to:
‘All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.[1]’
‘For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.’[2]
If you are a believer in Jesus and have invested time in God’s word, you probably know how ‘living and active’ it can be! On many occasions, I have experienced reading a passage of Scripture at one time, then returning to it a few months later, only to have God speak to my heart in a different way when I read the passage again! Primarily because of this verse, I have noticed that I never see someone doing well in their relationship with the Lord who isn’t investing regular time in God’s Word. The Lord uses that time to refine and shape the believer into the man or woman of God that He wants them to be. God’s Word truly does pierce soul and spirit, and discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart, remolding us into a closer image of Jesus.
As I then use the Bible as my guide for the new YouTube content, I have two goals I’d love to achieve through the new channel. First, whatever the topic may be, I would love to find out the truth about the topic or the situation I’m talking about. Just as we know that the Bible is God’s truth for our lives, we want to see the truth about the topic. Along the way, I would be afraid to say when something isn’t OK and call out false thinking or bad intentions of those who are proponents of the topic I’m talking about. And at the end of the day, we want to know how to respond Biblically to the topic.
Be sure to subscribe to the new YT Channel, and as you begin to watch episodes, feel free to suggest show ideas or give constructive feedback on what you’re seeing!
